following cable standard

must

be used for an 8-pin connector. Token

Ring uses 2 pairs of wire: pins 3 & 6 and pins 4 & 5 (see

Figure A-1

). If

you do not configure the pairs this way, the connection does not work
properly. Ensure an 8-pin connector on datagrade cable has the
following pin pairings:

pins 4 and 5 are pair 1

■

pins 3 and 6 are pair 2

■

pins 1 and 2 are pair 3 (not used)
