General Guidelines for Players
Special Warnings When Using
the Equipment
• Adjust the strike zone to a proper height. A good rule of thumb is to
make the strike zone equal to the height between the player’s
shoulder and the knee.
• Confirm with your coach or league for exact distances you should
keep when pitching or hitting.
• Be aware of and respond to signs of fatigue. Stop training if you feel
tired and get checked by an athletic trainer, coach, doctor, or nurse
before going back to training.
• Limit the number of innings and pitches, or the chance of overuse
injuries would increase.
• Practice overhead sports (i.e., sports that involve a lot of overhead
arm movements, like baseball or volleyball) regularly.
