Powering and Connecting the BPS12
6.1
Introduction
This chapter describes the processes of connecting the BPS12 to an ac input, connecting the BPS12
to an MX250 or MX1200 system, and connecting multiple BPS12 devices in parallel to increase the
backup capacity for your systems.
6.2
Connecting the BPS12 to an ac power source
When the BPS12 is receiving ac power, it can simultaneously provide power to the systems to
which it is connected and recharge its internal batteries. The following procedure describes the
process of connecting the BPS12 to an ac power source and the expected response from the BPS12.
1.
To connect the BPS12 to an ac source, verify that the standby switch is pressed in the O
position. Plug the ac cord into ac input located in the bottom left corner of the BPS12, as
After the ac power is plugged in, you will hear a subtle click as the internal power supply
begins operating. Inside the left side panel of the BPS12, the two small LEDs on the internal
power supply should illuminate: red for Alarm and green for Power. If the internal power
supply LEDs are both red or if they do not illuminate, the power supply is either not
connected properly or is defective.
