Appendix B
Configuring Your
Browser
An Internet browser is a software application used to find and
display Web pages. To find a page, the browser must connect
to the Internet. The browser can be configured to connect to
the Internet via phone lines or a LAN (Local Area Network).
When using a cable modem, your browser should be set to
connect to the Internet via a LAN. This appendix describes how
to configure some of the most common Internet browsers. It is
beyond the scope of this document to give step-by-step
instructions for all versions of all Internet browsers, so the
instructions below cover the major versions of the most
common Internet browsers. If you have further questions, refer
to your browser’s documentation.
