used with a short piping section to direct the
flushed sand away from the base of the filter. See
Figure 3.
3. Rinse the internal piping to remove the sand.
D. Remove the Internal Piping Assemblies
From the Filter
1. Slide the vent screen and grommet from the end of
the tubing extending above the diffuser. See
Figure 4.
2. Pull the tubing out of the bottom of the diffuser.
3. Unscrew the diffusers from the inlet piping
assembly.
4. Cut the cable tie that secures the piping.
5. Remove the hex head screws that connects the hub
pipe subassembly to the outlet pipe subassembly.
Disconnect the hub pipe subassembly from the
outlet pipe subassembly.

6. Unscrew the outlet pipe subassembly from the tank
outlet fitting.
7. Remove the hex head screw that connects the
wye subassembly to the inlet pipe subassembly.
Disconnect the wye subassembly. The complete
wye assembly with the two (2) diffuser pipe
subassemblies may now be removed through the lid
opening at the top of the filter.
8. Lift the hub pipe subassembly through the lid
opening at the top of the filter and unscrew seven
(7) of the eight (8) laterals from the hub. Remove
the pipe assembly, hub and laterals for the filter.
9. Unscrew the inlet pipe subassembly from the tank
inlet fitting.
