D. Lubrication
On your Zize Bike, the only lubrication needed is on the chain, seat
post, and front hub.
The front hub needs to be overhauled every 2 years for optimum lon-
gevity. This is best done by a bike shop and you only need to bring in
the front wheel.
It is best if the seat post is removed and lubricated every once a
year . This can easily be done by removing the seat post and apply-
ing a few drops of oil to the inside of the seat tube and reinstalling the
seat post . Since the frame is made of steel and the seat post is
made of alloy, corrosion can occur if the seat post is left in the bike
for too long without lubrication.
The chain should be lubricated every time it is dry. There are many
different lubrications for bike chains on the market today. While a
light oil is fine , it will get the chain very dirty. Some of the lubricants
available at a bike shop are formulated to keep the chain very clean
while keeping it lubricated at the same time.
E. Tires
A regular inspection of your tires will allow you to see how much they
are wearing.
If the tread is worn off and the top of the tire looks smooth and flat ,
then it should be replaced. If there are signs of cracks on the side of
the tire then it needs to be replaced.
On the side of the tire, there is a label for how much pressure the tire
will take.
The optimum pressure for a Zize Bike is 55lbs
. Main-
taining tire pressure will make the bike safer, easier to ride , and
Extend tire life.
F. Handlebars
On a monthly basis , inspect the handlebar stem bolts . Make sure
that they are tight and that the handlebar has no sign of wear. Look-
ing at the bike from the front, see if the handlebars seem bent down-
ward. If the handlebars seem deformed in any way, have them re-
placed immediately.
G. Seat
While holding the seat on the front and back, try to move it up and
down. If the seat seems to move, tighten the bolts that secure it to
the seat post.
Always be sure that you are comfortable on the seat while riding and
that there are no obstructions that might cause pain or chaffing. If
the seat gets torn, be sure it does not interfere with riding comfort .
