USING THE SLIDER LASER TIRF WITH CUSTOMERS' OWN LASERS
The following pages do not apply for TIRF systems which have been set up by Carl Zeiss Service
staff.
Advice for users with their own laser modules:
Only use class 3B laser modules (maximum 500 mW of total output power).
If customer-provided lasers are used,
the responsibility for laser safety of the complete
Laser TIRF imaging system shall rest upon the user.
He has to check whether additional
laser protection measures are required and whether the laser warning labels on the Laser TIRF
imaging system, including the microscope, are still valid. The manufacturer does not assume
liability for any modifications to the Laser TIRF imaging system.
If the customer's own lasers are used, the Laser Bench Rack (400615-9030-000), Laser Bench
Tower (400615-9000-000), Laser Bench Rack 3F (400615-9040-000) and the Carl Zeiss
Monomode Fiber (400615-9400-000) laser modules are not authorized.
Please note that only lasers of up to class 3B with maximum 500 mW output power in the
wavelength range from 400 to 700 nm (with laser safety incubator in red design up to 561 nm)
have been approved for the Laser TIRF imaging system.
If higher-power lasers are used, Carl Zeiss Microscopy GmbH will not assume any warranty for
the components of the microscope system and for adherence to the required laser safety of the
system.
Inform the laser safety officer about the intended first start-up of the Laser TIRF imaging
system.
The national laser protection requirements have to be observed.
