• Always insert the XRS 4 into the water phantom alone or with an applica-
tor from the INTRABEAM range of accessories.
Use the water phantom only in connection with the INTRABEAM to determine
the depth dose rate or isotropy of an XRS 4.
Preparatory workflow
The most important steps for preparing the water phantom are:
– Place the water phantom on a stable, level table.
– Remove a cover of the water tank filler opening.
– Fill water tank with deionized water up to the upper edge of the viewing
window.
– Reattach the cover of the water tank properly.
– Select the measuring chamber and unscrew the cover.
– Remove the IC ionization chamber holder from the open measuring cham-
ber.
– Insert the IC ionization chamber in the ionization chamber holder.
– Insert the ionization chamber holder in the measuring chamber.
– Screw the cover of the measuring chamber back on.
– Let the water phantom with the filled water tank and the IC ionization
chamber inserted in one of the measuring chambers adapt to room tem-
perature.
NOTE If the user fills the water tank with liquids other than deionized water, incor-
rect measuring results may be obtained.

Use the water phantom only if the water tank is filled with deionized wa-
ter up to the upper edge of the viewing window.
NOTE Incorrect measured values may be obtained if you do not have the IC ioniza-
tion chamber calibrated at the prescribed intervals.

Observe the calibration intervals specified by the manufacturer of the IC
ionization chamber and comply with the relevant requirements applica-
ble in your country.
