The calibration panel CPA consists of black points on a white background.
The larger points in the middle inform the GOM Inspect software about
the calibration panel type, for example, calibration panel CPA30 for meas‐
uring volume 200.
Each point was measured photogrammetrically in the factory. The system
does not only use the black points for calibration but the white spaces as
well (calibration of single cameras). Therefore, always ensure that the cali‐
bration panel is clean (see section 8.1 How to Handle Calibration Objects).
Each calibration object has its own calibration data (file extension
.calobj )
and its certificate. The calibration data is stored in the GOM Scan 1 sensor.
A unique serial number provides for correct matching of calibration
object, certificate and calibration data.

8.4.1 Handling Instructions for Calibration Panel CPA

The surface of the calibration object is very sensitive. Therefore, never
touch the surface directly with your hands.
•
All calibration panels of the larger measuring volumes remain in the
case during the calibration procedure. Only remove the case cover. To
prevent any damage to the surface of the panel, remove the case
cover carefully.
•
Clean the point surface with the enclosed microfiber cloth from the
standard tool box. Wipe the surface gently only. Never exert any pres‐
sure.
•
The system does no longer use damaged points for calibration.
•
The system ignores dirty white areas during calibration. The process
uses the clean neighboring areas.
