Troubleshooting
If your speakers fail to operate normally, check the following table. It lists common operating errors and simple measures which you can take to correct the problem. If it
cannot be corrected, or the symptom is not listed, disconnect the speaker’s AC adaptor and contact your authorized YAMAHA dealer or service center for help.
FAULT
No sound comes from one, or both, of
the speakers.
No sound comes from the unit
connected to the OUTPUT (ADJ.VOL.)
jack on the rear panel.
Sound is distorted.
Intermittent noise.
Noise.
Noise is heard when the power is
turned on.
No sense of sonic expansion.
(YST-M20DSP only)
CURE
• Insert the AC adaptor firmly into the wall outlet.
• Turn ON the POWER switch (the indicator lights).
• Make the connections again, firmly, or use a different
cable.
• Turn VOLUME control to the right to increase the
volume.
• Turn the ADJ.VOL. knob to the right to increase the
volume.
• Turn up the volume on the connected component.
• Disconnect the headphones.
• Turn down the volume on the connected component.
• Turn OFF the DSP, or turn VOLUME to the right to
increase the volume.
• Make the connections again, firmly, or use a different
cable.
• Connect the power cord to an UNSWITCHED AC
OUTLET.
Make sure to use the POWER switch on this unit to turn
the power on and off.
• Set DSP ON/OFF to ON.
CAUSE
• The AC adaptor is not properly plugged in to the wall
outlet.
• The POWER switch is turned OFF.
• Connections are faulty or incomplete.
• The volume is set to minimum.
• The signal being input is too small.
• Headphones are connected.
(No sound comes from the OUTPUT jack when
headphones are connected.)
• The signal being input is too large.
• DSP is turned on when the volume level is low, or
when there is no signal. (YST-M20DSP only)
• Connections are faulty or incomplete.
• The power cord of this unit is connected to another
unit’s SWITCHED AC OUTLET.
• DSP ON/OFF is turned OFF.
•
Even if the POWER switch is set to off, a small amount of sound may be heard from the headphones if the VOLUME control is set to MAX.
