CUSTOM INSTALLATION GUIDE
You can make up a dual-room audio/video system with this unit. In this system, you can make this unit send audio and video
signals to the main room’s equipment (speakers and TV monitor) and the second room’s equipment (amplifier and TV monitor)
respectively. For example, you can enjoy listening to a CD source in the main room while another person is enjoying watching an
LD source in the second room.
By using the ZONE 2 remote controller in the second room, you can enjoy a source which is different from the one being selected in
the main room.
Connections
The following optional products are required to use the dual-
room function.
1
An infrared emitter in the main room
This emitter emits the infrared signals transmitted by the
ZONE 2 remote controller in the second room to the other
components in the main room (for example, CD player or
LD player).
2
An amplifier, TV monitor and speakers for the second room
3
An infrared signal receiver for the second room
(*1): Some Yamaha models can be connected to this unit’s
REMOTE CONTROL OUT terminals. If you connect these
units in series, the use of an infrared emitter may not be
necessary.
Note
Since there are so many ways to connect and use this unit in a
dual-room system, we recommend that you consult with a
custom installation specialist for connections which will best
meet your requirements.
Up to 6 units can be connected in this
connecting way.

Note on adjusting the volume
First set the volume for the second room at “–16” or “–17” by
using the VOLUME ZONE 2 keys on the ZONE 2 remote
controller. The level can be checked on the display of this unit.
(This operation can be made by directing the ZONE 2 remote
controller to this unit.)
After this setting is made, use the volume control on the
amplifier in the second room to adjust the volume for the
second room.
