36 Fuel injector Actuates fuel injector five
times at one-second inter-
vals.
The “CHECK” indicator and

” on the Yamaha diag-
nostic tool screen come on
each time the fuel injector is
actuated.
Disconnect the fuel pump
coupler.
Check that fuel injector is ac-
tuated five times by listening
for the operating sound.
45 VVA (variable valve actuator)
solenoid Actuates the VVA (variable
valve actuator) solenoid five
times at three-second inter-
vals.
The “CHECK” indicator and
“
” on the Yamaha diag-
nostic tool screen come on
each time the VVA (variable
valve actuator) solenoid is
actuated.
Remove the VVA (variable
valve actuator) solenoid from
the cylinder head, and then
connect the VVA (variable
valve actuator) solenoid cou-
pler.
Refer to “CYLINDER HEAD”
on page 5-9.
Visually check that the VVA
(variable valve actuator) so-
lenoid is actuated five times.
52 Headlight relay Actuates the headlight relay
five times at five-second in-
tervals.
The “CHECK” indicator and
“
” on the Yamaha diag-
nostic tool screen come on
each time the relay is actuat-
ed.
Check that the headlight re-
lay is actuated five times by
listening for the operating
sound.
54 ISC valve Fully closes the ISC valve,
and then opens the valve.
This operation takes approxi-
mately 3 seconds.
The “CHECK” indicator and
“
” on the Yamaha diag-
nostic tool screen come on
during the operation.
Check that the ISC (idle
speed control) unit operates
by listening for the operating
sound while the ISC unit op-
erates for 3 seconds.
