Temporary actions in emergency
4. The unaffected engine’s shift, throttle
and steering will operate within the nor-
mal parameters. Use the steering and
remote control levers to operate the
unaffected engine(s) and return to port.
Note, the steering response may be
sluggish. The affected engine’s steering
will be moved by the water flowing past
the lower unit. The affected engine will
remain in neutral even if the shift/throttle
lever for that engine is placed in forward
(F) or reverse (R).
■
All engine’s steering do not operate
If all engine’s steering do not move as ex-
pected the following will occur.
• The display window appears, and a buzzer
sounds.
• The remote control alert indicator shows
which engine the steering is malfunction-
ing in.
The steering control system shifts all engines
into neutral and returns all engines to idle
speed. At this time, all steering will be inop-
erable.
Operators should comply with the following
procedures and return to port. After returning
to port, please have the unit checked imme-
diately by a Yamaha dealer.
1. Place the remote control levers in the N
position.
TIP:
Throttle and shift control will not return until
the remote control levers are returned to the
N position.
2. Check the alert messages on the Digital
Network Gauge (6Y9) and check which
engines are not responding properly to
steering input.
3. Open all steering bypass valves and
manually position all engines so that
they are straight.
4. Close all steering bypass valves.
