Removing the water pump and shift
rod

Remove the water pump assembly and
shift rod assembly

NOTE:

Pull up the shift rod assembly a little

to dis-

connect it from the shift slider

, turn it clock-

wise 90°

, and then remove it.

Checking the water pump and shift
rod

Check the pump housing for deforma-
tion. Replace if necessary.

Check the impeller

, inner plate car-

tridge

and insert plate cartridge

for

cracks or wear. Replace if necessary.

Check the Woodruff key

and the

groove

on the drive shaft for wear.

Replace if necessary.

Check the shift rod for cracks or wear.
Replace if necessary.
