Connecting/Disconnecting the
CRW3200IX Drive to/from the Computer

The CRW3200IX drive can be connected/disconnected while the computer is turned
on (hot plug).
However, follow the steps below to disconnect the CRW3200IX drive while the
computer is turned on.

1

Quit the writing software and the playback software such as Windows Media

Player if they are activated.

2

Be sure to remove any disc from the disc tray.

3

For Windows Me/2000 Professional, select Unplug or Eject Hardware on the

task bar and follow the steps on the screen to disconnect the drive.

For Windows XP, select Safely Remove Hardware on the task bar and follow

the steps on the screen to disconnect the drive.

For Macintosh, disconnect the CRW3200IX drive.

• For Windows 98 Second Edition, do not disconnect IEEE1394 device from the

computer turned on to avoid improper operation.

• Be sure not to disconnect the CRW3200IX drive or connect/disconnect other

IEEE1394 devices from the computer when writing with the drive.

Note

Be sure not to turn off the CRW3200IX drive when the drive is connected to the
computer turned on. The computer or other IEEE1394 devices may not operate
properly depending on a type of host adapter or a CD writing software.
Disconnect the CRW3200IX drive from the computer prior to turning off the
drive.

(This screen is an example on Windows Me.)
