A. Troubleshooting
Situation
Possible cause and correction
No LED indication on
the Device
1. CAN1 interface is not powered. Device CPU is powered from CAN1
interface.
Make sure that power source rails are connected to CAN1 interface.
2. No power supply on the bus.
Check if the bus power is supplied
(NMEA 2000 network requires a separate power connection and cannot be
powered by a plotter or another device connected to the network).
3. Loose connection in the power supply circuit.
Treat the Device
connector with a spray for cleaning electrical contacts. Plug the Device into
another connector.
One of the 2-flash LED
indication sequence
flash is always RED
1. No power supply on the bus.
Check if the bus power is supplied
(NMEA 2000 network requires a separate power connection and cannot be
powered by a plotter or another device connected to the network).
2. Loose connection in the data circuit.
Treat the Device connector with
a spray for cleaning electrical contacts. Plug the Device into another connector.
3. CAN bus or NMEA 2000 network issue.
Make sure that both
terminators are installed in each network (see Section II). Plug another device
into the selected connector and make sure it functions.
4. Most messages are discarded by hardware filters.
Turn any device
in the network off and on again (see III.1).
A loaded program is
not working properly.
Debug the program.
