Description

The Sensus CompactRF provides a solution to integrate Sensus

mechanical water meters with dedicated modulator blade in a smart

metering network using wireless technology.

1. Delivery parts

Sensus CompactRF, Bayonet ring, Dial cover with cut out, 2 screws, 2

screw seals, 1 adhesive seal

2. Installation

Mounting the Sensus CompactRF on the meter it is essential to remove

all foils and clean the surface of the register. A screwdriver Torx (T8) or

Slot (3.5*0.6) is recommended for mounting. The torque should be max.

0.6 Nm. Sensus CompactRF should not get any external mechanical load.

2.1 Water meters with plastic register

Put the Sensus CompactRF on the meter, so that the two pins on top of the

register fit exactly into the holes at the bottom of the Sensus CompactRF.

Fit the two screws. (Fig.

1

 and

2

). For tamper protection fit the plastic

seals on top of the screws (Fig.

2

). After that change the cover (Fig.

3

).

The bayonet ring and the adhesive seal are not used for this register type.

2.2 Water meters with glass-copper register

Mount the Sensus CompactRF with both the screws on the bayonet ring.

For tamper protection fit the plastic seals on the top of the screws (Fig.

4

). Remove the lid from the meter (Fig.

5

). Fit the bayonet ring with the

mounted Sensus CompactRF on the top of the meter register and turn it

until it drops into place (Fig.

6

). Push and turn the bayonet ring clockwise

until the lever clicks into place. If required fit the adhesive seal.

To remove the Sensus CompactRF lift the lever and rotate anticlockwise.

If the bayonet ring should be secured against removal with a fixing screw

then the bayonet ring has to be mounted first onto the meter and fixed with

the screw. After that mount the Sensus CompactRF on the bayonet ring as

above. After that change the cover lid (Fig.

7

).

3. Configuration

To make sure that the meter ID and the reading are synchronized it is

required to configure the Sensus CompactRF after mounting to the meter.

Required tools:

•  SIRT

•  DIAVASO Config App installed at a Smartphone or Tablet

•  Encryption key (possibly when the encryption key is different from

default)

Radio range

The typical distance between transponder and read-out device is

500m@868MHz in line of sight. Poor installation places, obstacles in the

radio line-of-sight and other influences like electrical interference or metal

devices can reduce the radio range or even make radio reads impossible.

From buildings to outside a typical range is 100 to 200 metres, while in

an extreme case the reading range in a pit might be less than 20 metres.

5. Disposal instructions

This product contains lithium batteries and to protect the

environment it should not be disposed of in household

rubbish when its serviceable life is over. Disposal

can take place through a Sensus Service Centre. If

however you want to take care of the disposal yourself,

please comply with the local and national regulations

for environmental protection.

3.1

 After starting the DIAVASO

Config  App  make  sure  that  the

SIRT is connected via Bluetooth.

Add (+) device and enter the

address printed at the Sensus

CompactRF

3.3

 After successfully retrieving the

info from the module it is possible

to enter the Custom meter ID that

is lasered on the meter. In this

example the Custom  meter ID is

70250919

3.2

  The  DIAVASO  Config  then

will try to communicate with the

Sensus CompactRF.

3.4

 As a next mandatory step

the counter reading from the

mechanical roller counter (see

image above) has to be transferred

to the Sensus CompactRF. (In our

example it is 00000.301).
Please consider the decimal

separator.
After  these  steps  confirm  the

settings

3.5

 When the configuration

has been successful the new

counter reading should appear

and in synchronization with the

roller counter at the meter
