Backup
This function performs a Backup of the route information and readings that have been read
from the HHD or VXU disk. For normal operations, the selected route will show a status of
Backup Required (Data: Available) or Complete (Data: Available) in order for actual reading
data to be stored. It is possible in special situations to back up routes with other statuses,
but no reading data saves unless the second part of the status shows (Data: Available).
After executing a Backup, a route with a status of Backup Required (Data: Available) will go
to a status of Complete (Data: Available) and a Complete route will still be in a Complete
status. AutoRead places the backed-up data into a file in the Backup Path that you have
selected in the Route Maintenance-Detail tab for each route. By default, the file name
of the backed up data is the routename.rbk, where "routename" is the actual name of the
route in AutoRead.
Note :
This file can only be used by the AutoRead application. It must be restored back into the
same route name in which it was generated and that route needs to be in a No Meters
status.
Reset
The Reset function will delete all transactions from a selected route and return it to a status
of Ready to Load (Data: Not Loaded) from a status of Device Loaded, Backup Required
or Complete. This function is not intended to clear an error that may occur from trying any
other function.
Note :
If an error is encountered while performing any of the functions, refer to Appendix A or call
Sensus Metering Systems Technical Services at 1-800-638-3748 before proceeding with
any function.
Do not perform this function if there are readings on the device that are yet to be retrieved
from the unit, unless instructed to do so by Sensus Technical Services. Reset will not clear
the readings from the actual device, but it will delete them from the AutoRead database and
take the route to a status of Ready To Load (Data: Not Loaded), which will prevent you from
retrieving readings from the HHD normally. If the route is accidentally Reset, and there are
still readings that need to be retrieved from the device, please contact Sensus Technical
Services for help stepping the route to its proper status.
Note :
Depending on how the option Reset/Clear control on the Route Maintenance-General
screen is set, AutoRead may or may not prompt for confirmation (are you sure you wish to
Reset…) before it actually resets the route to a status of Ready to Load (Data: Not Loaded).
Re-Execute
This function can be performed on a route with a status of Backup Required (Data:
Available) or Complete (Data: Available). It is typically used after performing the Read Data
function on a partial download of a HHD or VXU disk. For example, a route of 300 meters
was loaded, and when the Read Data function is executed, the statistics show that only
200 out of 300 have actually been read. (In the column labeled Meters Read/On Route it
shows 200/300). Before performing the Re-Execute function, the status of the route should
