If you determine that you can safely clear the other route or routes (you do not need any
readings from the device in its current state), then clear the route or routes by highlighting
them and choosing the function
Clear
and then press
Execute
. Once the old routes are
cleared, you are able to load the new route onto the HHD.
AutoRead will allow you to load multiple routes on to a HHD at one time, but if you choose
to load multiple routes, you must do so simultaneously. If you have previously loaded a
route and then later decide to load another route on to the HHD, AutoRead will prevent you
from doing so in order to protect the readings or data that may already be on the HHD. See
Section
What does "Device Not Found" mean when I try to do
a Read Data or Load Data in AutoRead?
The Device Not Found error message means that the AutoRead program does not "see"
your HHD on the stand. This is usually due to insufficient contact between the HHD and
the stand, or because the HHD that you have in the stand is not the same ID as the one
assigned to the route you are trying to Read or Load. The first thing to check is that the
correct unit that you are trying to use is actually seated fully in the stand. If it is the correct
unit, and is fully seated (at least the top light should be lit) proceed to the next paragraph.
Make sure that the HHD is on in the stand and that you see the message Charging Stand
Active on the screen of the HHD itself. If you do not see this message, make sure the HHD
is in the stand, and press the
Power
or
On/Off
button at the bottom of the HHD. If the HHD
does not come on, or does not display this message:
• For a 4000 series HHD- try pressing the following 3 keys at the same time:
Page Up
+ Page Down + Shift
. Try to do this with the HHD in the stand. This will reboot the
HHD and will take about 15 to 30 seconds. You should see the Charging Stand Active
message on the screen of the HHD.
• For a 5000 series HHD- you may attempt to reseat the battery by pulling up on the
two latches on either side of the unit, then slide the battery to the left and pull it out. To
reseat it, place it in on the left, then press down and slide it to the right and latch the
compartment lid back down. Press the
On/Off
key for several seconds to power the
HHD back up.
Note
: Do not attempt to remove the battery on a 4000 series HHD when there is live data in it. For
5000 series HHDs, this is a safe procedure.
Try the Read Data or Load Data step again and see if it is successful. The
Device Not
Found
error can mean that the contacts are dirty, or that the HHD that you have in the
stand is not the same ID as the one assigned to the route you are trying to Read or
Load. You may use a pencil eraser to attempt to clean the contacts both on the HHD
and on the charge stand. If everything appears to be normal but you still get the Device
Not Found error, call Sensus Technical Services at 1-800-638-3748.
How do I perform a Read Data on an HHD or SSI
more than once?
If you need to perform a Read Data function a second time to retrieve the readings again,
you must first perform a Re-Execute command before doing a Read Data for the second
time. Basically, when you perform a Read Data function in AutoRead, the program looks at
the Status of the route you are working on. The route in AutoRead must have a status of
Device Loaded (Data: Loaded) in order for it to allow you to Read Data again. If you have
