3. Working Limits
Maximum temperature of pumped liquid:
40°C
Maximum immersion depth:
20M
Maximum number of starts per hour, evenly distributed:
25 for motor powers up to 0.9kW
20 for motor powers above 0.9kW
EN 60335-2-41 must be observed when operating electric pumps in rainwater tanks.
4. Installation
We recommend the installation of a check valve on the suction side of the pump to aid priming and
to avoid air locking. Care must be taken not to damage the power cable when lowering the pump
into tank/well. Tie the cable to the delivery pipe at 1 metre intervals.
4.1 Installing the electric pump in a tank or reservoir
The tank or reservoir must be large enough to prevent an excessive number of starts per hour
(see working limits (par. 3).
4.2 Drop cable
If the pump is connected to a plastic delivery pipe, a steel or nylon drop cable must be used,
secured to the appropriate fastening hole in the pump head.
4.3 Tank installation
There must be suitable means of protecting the pump from dry running. Suction filters must be
checked and cleaned at 6 monthly intervals to prevent dry running due to filter blockage.
Dry running will seriously damage the pumps bearings and bushing. Never test the pump out of
the water.
5. Electrical Connection
5.1 Connection
Single phase versions have enclosed capacitor.
Three phase version have been linked internally with windings set for 380-415V at the factory.
The pump must be connected to the three phase power line through a suitable control panel.
5.2 Overload protection
Single phase pumps are equipped with a built – in overload protection (automatic reset).
Three phase pumps require an external protection consisting of a magnetic-thermal overload cut
out and thermal relay set to the rated current of the pump.
6. Safety Instructions
• Pay attention to the working limits (par. 3) improper use may damage the pump and other
property and cause injury to people.
• The pump is not designed to handle flammable or hazardous liquids.
• Make sure the rated voltage matches the mains voltage.
• The mains connection and grounding must be performed by a (qualified electrician)
• For connection to the mains use a multiple-pole switch with at least 3mm distance between
contacts.
• Do not allow the pump to run dry or operate out of the water.
• Do not use the power supply cable to lift or move the pump.
• The drop cable must be of suitable length for the installation/tank depth.
• The pump may fall into the tank, a safety cable must be used.
• Operate the pump within the working limits.
