Product: Phaser 7760

Operational Groups: All

PROBLEM:

The Phaser 7760 no longer recognizes the Imaging Units as the correct
ones for the product after the Engine NVRAM board (MCU-MF NVM
PWB, P/N 160K76652) is changed.

If the

Store Engine NVRAM

function is not performed before replacing

the Engine NVRAM Board, the correct parameter for recognizing Phaser
7760 Imaging Units will be lost.

CAUSE:

The Engine NVRAM Board is a common part used in many different
products. In order to function correctly in a particular product, a
number of parameters must be programmed. One of these parameters is
the unique code that recognizes the Imaging Units specifically
designated for that product. These codes are programmed to the Engine
NVRAM Board during production. In order to be written correctly to a
replacement NVRAM board, the

Store Engine NVRAM

 and

Resetting

NVRAM

procedures within diagnostics should be followed.

SOLUTION:

If the Phaser 7760 Image Unit are no longer correctly recognized after
replacing the Engine NVRAM Board and the

Resetting NVRAM

procedure within diagnostics does not restore this functionality;

1.

Send the

Image Unit ID

postscript snippet to the printer.

a.

This snippet can be downloaded from:

http://www.office.xerox.com/

b.

Select

Drivers and Utilities

and enter 7760 in the product

name field.

c.

If necessary, instructions for

Downloading Firmware

Update Files

can be obtained on the same web page.

2.

Verify that the printer recognizes the Image Units correctly after
the snippet has been downloaded.

3.

Perform the

Store Engine NVRAM

procedure in diagnostics.

Complete the part’s green card and include it with each part returned
