Xerox WorkCentre 450c/450cp Service Manual

REP 5.1.3: Ni-Metal Battery

The Ni-Metal battery is soldered in place.

WARNING!

During this procedure, wear

protective eyewear. Also, when soldering and
desoldering the battery, use proper heat sinking.
Failure to do so may result in an explosion of the
battery!!

1.

Perform the following:

a.

REP 1.1: WorkCentre Cover on page 4-3

b.

REP 4.1.1: Scanner Assembly on page 4-
31

2.

Put on your protective eyewear.

3.

Attach heat sinks to the battery terminals.

4.

Use a soldering gun to unsolder each end of
the battery from the contacts. Use as little
heat as possible to desolder the battery.

5.

Solder the new battery into place, making
sure that the positive end of the battery is
pointing towards the printer. Use as little heat
as possible in resoldering the new battery
into place.
