The battery protectors from the SBP series have been developed to
protect the battery against deep discharges. As a result, the battery life
can be guaranteed. The battery protector can also for example ensure
that there is always enough power available to start a vehicle. The battery
protector switches off the power supply to the connected consumers at
the set voltage, so that the battery cannot be discharged further. The
required disconnect voltage must be set before use. Once the battery
voltage is recharged to the acceptable level (fixed value) through charging,
the power supply is automatically resumed. Optionally, it is possible to
force the battery protector to switch on. Read more about this in chapter
'In use', paragraph 'manual re-start'.
The battery protector is suitable for both 12Vdc and 24Vdc systems. The
correct system voltage will be determined automatically.
In a 12Vdc system the connected consumers may not exceed 200Amp.
In a 24Vdc system this is 100Amp.
INS T A L L A T IO N
The battery protector will automatically detect whether it is a 12Vdc or
24Vdc system (0~16Vdc = 12Vdc, 16~32Vdc = 24Vdc). It is therefore
important that the battery is at a normal voltage level at the time of
connection. A battery voltage that is too high or too low can result in the
wrong selection being made.
Mounting
Mount, by using a screw, the device as close as possible to the battery
and on a stable surface and with the screw fixing upwards. Mounting in a
different way will be at the expense of the IP value (dust and water
tightness).
Cable thickness
Always keep the cables as short as possible. Use sufficiently thick (+)
cable, matching the length and maximum current that goes over this
cable. So the maximum power of the connected consumers. Too thin
cables can cause voltage losses. This has a direct influence on the
operation of the battery guard. This can also result in overheating!
