7.0
DISASSEMBLY
WARNING:
Use a hoist or other suitable lifting equipment to support the weight of the
caliper brake and disc rotor
.
WARNING:
The caliper brake and disc rotor are heavy. Use approved lifting eyes and procedures to prevent accident or
injury.
WARNING:
Use care when removing the caliper brake from the disc rotor to avoid damage to shoe assemblies and any
other components.
7.1
Refer to caliper brake illustrations on pages 10 and 11.
7.2
Remove any air lines and bolts holding caliper brake to frame. Lift caliper brake and place on work bench.
7.3
Remove cotter pins, lever pins and bolts holding actuator assembly to caliper brake.
7.4
Remove cotter pins, nuts and shoe rod holding shoe assembly to the levers. Remove bolts holding outer
bearing and center bearing to the shoe assembly.
7.5
Remove cotter pins, nuts and saddle rod holding levers to the caliper brake.
7.6
Remove tie rod nuts and lock washers from tie rods.
7.7
Remove saddles and spacers from tie rods.
7.8
Remove tie rods from mounting foot.
7.9
Disassemble actuator assembly,
refer to actuator assembly illustrations on page 10.
IMPORTANT:
Retain end caps with an adjustable clamp before removing bolts and nuts. Internal springs are under
compression and must be retained.
7.10
Remove nuts and bolts from actuator assembly. Then slowly release spring pressure with clamp until all
pressure is relieved.
7.11
Slide end caps off guide pins and separate the other parts.
7.12
Inspect parts for wear or damage and replace as necessary.

ASSEMBLY
8.1
Assemble caliper brakes
by reversing steps 7.1 through 7.12 above.
8.2
Torque bolts to the requirements specified see section 9.0

Adjust caliper brake as indicated under maintenance section see section
