Basic operation of the slider
as of 2014 January
Generally we use camera sliders as stand alone motion tools placed on the ground or on top of a tripod,
perpendicular, parallel or anywhere in between to our subject or talent. Before doing anything is a good
idea to “step back” and imagine what we actually wanna see and how we wanna make our viewer feel
at this part of the film.
Thanks to the all terrain legs, spirit level, centre mount support and magnetic side support, we can
position our slider virtually in any orientation, the way we like it and the story requires.
After placing your slider, make sure there is no alien object on the rails and carriage wheels. Try your
slide before hitting the “Record” button, make sure it’s stabled during the entire sliding move.
When you place your slider on the top of a tripod make sure you secure the tripod base plate well so is
not gonna rotate when you operate your slider. Use the magnetic side-support. Its better to work on a
solid platform. To install the magnetic side-support is simple. How to do it correctly? Simple. The only
important thing is that you have to place your slider so that one of the leg is pointing into the centre line
of your slider. That is your slider support leg.
(see illustration)
Now, just mount the lower base on the
supporting leg by its velcro and pop in the side support bar in between. To engage just move the lower
base on the support leg as required.
