Quick Start Setup Guide for SA-8, SA-8 DSP, SA-2 DSP, SA-3 DSP
Finding the SA-x DSP on the Network
The SA-x DSP uses DHCP and mDNS to receive an IP address and be easily accessed through the local network. Be sure that the SA-x
and your computer are on the same local network and subnet.
Currently the SA-x supports Firefox, Chrome browsers on both Windows and MacOS computers, and Safari on MacOS. We
recommend Firefox for most applications.
Method One – Use Direct Connection using Ethernet without a Network or Router
The simplest option is to connect directly without a router. By default, the SA-x will have an IP Address of 169.254.0.8. Note that you
can only connect one (1) SA-x at a time with this method and your computer must have a wired ethernet connection. A switch (
not a
router
) can also be used to simplify the connections. Wi-Fi cannot be used.
Connect the SA-x unit to the Ethernet port of your computer by plugging an Ethernet cable from the computer directly to the SA-x
without a router or switch. Turn on the unit and take it out of standby.
Open your web browser and enter the IP Address of
169.254.0.8/wizard.html
to access the setup wizard.
Method Two – mDNS Name
We recommend that you connect one (1) SA-x at a time on the network if you use the mDNS Name method until you have changed
the hostname to a unique name for the installation.
NOTE:
All SA-8 and SA-8DSP come factory default set to the Hostname “SA-8”; All SA-3 DSP are “SA-3”; All SA-2 DSP are “SA-2”. If
you use the mDNS name with multiple amplifiers of the same model on the same network, you may not control the correct
amplifier. Proceed with caution!
1.
Connect the SA-x and computer to a DHCP server. It is important to be on the same subnet.
2.
Power on the amplifier and open your web browser
3.
System Control Page should be found
SA-8 / SA-8 DSP =
http://SA-8.local
SA-3 DSP =
http://SA-3.local
SA-2 DSP =
http://SA-2.local
Method Three – IP Scan
This is perfect for installations with multiple SA-x on the network, or where the mDNS name is not working.
NOTE:
The Hostname may not appear correctly based on your local router settings. In this case, look for the MAC address beginning
with
8C:1F:64:xx:xx:xx
.
1.
Use
Angry IP Scanner
or
Advanced IP Scanner
, or any other IP scan tool.
2.
Scan the local network
3.
SA-x will appear in the list
4.
Enter the IP address that is shown into your browser. In the example below, 192.168.2.227 is the SA-8
