2. Remove fasteners from the black metal engine
cover (one located on each corner of the
cover) and set cover aside. You have now
accessed the engine.
NOTE: Removal of the cabinet face is required
to take the engine cover out and set
aside.
3. Reverse steps to reinstall rear engine cover,
cabinet face, and access panels.
FUEL/WATER SEPARATOR –
DIESEL
Freightliner
®
Chassis
Diesel fuel often contains small quantities of
water which can damage the engine if not filtered
out. The fuel/water separator traps this water and
prevents it from reaching the engine. The harmful
water deposits must be drained from the
separator canister during normal periodic service
and maintenance to keep the fuel filtration
system working effectively.
The fuel/water separator is located at the
forward right side of the engine beneath the rear
of the chassis.
Place an appropriate container beneath the
outlet and open the water release valve several
turns. Drain any water deposits from the canister
until clean diesel fuel flows from the valve. Close
valve by hand. Do not over tighten.
Dispose of the drained liquid in an
environmentally responsible manner, such as
taking to a waste oil disposal center.
ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM
Do not remove the radiator cap while engine
and radiator are still hot. Always check coolant
level visually at the see-through coolant
reservoir.
