The RB6 Series Beacon
may be mounted 4 ways. It is designed
for a normal dome-up position. If mounted inverted, seal the wire
exit hole and any mounting holes with silicone seal. A magnet or
mirror mount kit is also available for purchase separately.
IMPORTANT:
This beacon takes either a 35 or 50 watt
replacement bulb. Always use a bulb with the same specifications
as the one you are replacing.
FUSING:
If your beacon has a 35
watt bulb, fuse the RED wire at 5 amps. If your beacon has a 50
watt bulb, fuse the RED wire at 7.5 amps.
CAUTION:
This unit is polarity sensitive!
WARNING!
All customer supplied wires that connect to the
positive terminal of the battery, must be sized to supply at least
125% of the maximum operating current and be fused at the
battery to carry that load.
1” N.P.T. Pipe Mount:
1.
Feed the beacon wires through the pipe and extend the RED
wire to +12VDC (See “fusing”)
and the BLACK wire to chassis
ground.
2.
Screw the beacon onto the pipe, being careful not to pinch or
strain the wires. Hand tighten the unit onto the pipe.
Permanent Surface Mount:
1.
Remove the clamp ring securing the dome to the base and
remove the dome.
2.
Locate the 3 mounting hole
indentations on the inside bottom
of the base and drill 3 openings
for
the
mounting
screws
(customer supplied).
3.
Using the base as a template,
mark the location of the 3
mounting holes and wire
access hole onto the mounting
surface.
4.
Drill the 3 mounting holes (Size the drill
bit based on mounting hardware and thickness of the
mounting surface).
5.
Drill the wire access hole using a 1/4” drill bit. Deburr the wire
access hole and install a rubber grommet (customer supplied)
to protect the wires.
6.
Feed the wires through the wire access hole in the mounting
gasket and the mounting surface.
7.
Align the mounting holes in the base, gasket, and mounting
surface and secure the base with the sheet metal screws.
8.
Extend the RED wire to +12VDC (See “fusing”)
and the
BLACK wire to a chassis ground (-).
