IMPORTANT  WARNING:  When  this  emitter  is  mounted,  it  must  not  obstruct  any  part  of  the
driver’s view. Make sure that after the emitter is installed, the operator has an unobstructed
view through the windshield.

IMPORTANT  WARNING:  Do  not  install  this  product  or  route  any  wires  in  the
deployment area of your air bag. Equipment mounted or located in the air bag
deployment  area  will  damage  or  reduce  the  effectiveness  of  the  air  bag,  or
become a projectile that could cause serious personal injury or death. Refer to
your vehicle owners manual for the air bag deployment area. The User/Installer
assumes  full  responsibility  to  determine  proper  mounting  location,  based  on
providing  ultimate  safety  to  all  passengers  inside  the  vehicle.  Whelen
Engineering  Co.  assumes  no  liability  or  responsibility  for  determining
individual applications or exact installation location criteria.

Installation Style 1: Headliner Mounting

1.

Attach the mounting bracket to the emitter by hooking the four tabs of the bracket
into the 4 slots on the top, leading edge of the emitter housing. This is secured
to  the  housing  by  inserting  the  2  bracket  mounting  screws  through  the
mounting tabs on the rear top of the housing and into the bracket mounting
holes.

2.

Now  position  the  light  (with  bracket  attached)  onto  the  area  of  the  headliner
selected  as  the  mounting  location.  Using  a  pin  as  a  probe,  make  sure  that  both
headliner mounting screws will catch the roof support beam under the headliner and miss
the 2 holes in the support beam. Using a colored pencil or similar implement, mark the area of
the headliner to be drilled for the mounting holes.

NOTE:

It may be necessary to cut a section out of the emitter housing to accommodate your rear view

mirror. Using a small cutting tool, cut the area outlined on the lower, leading edge of the emitter housing.

3.

Remove the light and drill 2 mounting holes with an appropriately sized drill bit.

4.

Remove the bracket from the emitter and secure the bracket to the mounting location using the mounting screws provided.

5.

Re-attach the emitter to the mounting bracket as outlined in Step 1.

Installation Style 2: Windshield Mounting

IMPORTANT  WARNING:  When  this  emitter  is  mounted,  it  must  not
obstruct any part of the driver’s view. Make sure that after the emitter
is  installed,  the  operator  has  an  unobstructed  view  through  the
windshield.

IMPORTANT WARNING: Do not install this product or route any wires
in the deployment area of your air bag. Equipment mounted or located
in  the  air  bag  deployment  area  will  damage  or  reduce  the
effectiveness of the air bag, or become a projectile that could cause
serious personal injury or death. Refer to your vehicle owners manual
for  the  air  bag  deployment  area.  The  User/Installer  assumes  full
responsibility  to  determine  proper  mounting  location,  based  on
providing ultimate safety to all passengers inside the vehicle. Whelen
Engineering Co. assumes no liability or responsibility for determining
individual applications or exact installation location criteria.

1.

Attach mounting bracket to emitter by hooking the four tabs of the bracket into
the 4 slots on the top, leading edge of the emitter housing. This is secured to
the housing by inserting the 2 bracket mounting screws through the mounting
tabs on the rear top of the housing and into the screw grommets in the bracket.

2.

With a helper holding the mounting bracket in its proposed mounting location
against the windshield, make a rough outline of the mounting bracket contact
surface  on  the  outside  of  the  glass.  A  crayon  or  grease  pencil  should  be
suitable for this purpose.

CAUTION:  The  windshield

must

be  at  a  temperature  between  65°  and  70°

for  the  adhesive  to  work.  If  necessary,  run  your

defroster to heat the windshield before installing.

3.

After the mounting area has been clearly outlined, remove the mounting bracket from the emitter housing.

4.

Using the adhesive included with your mounting kit, attach the bracket to the windshield.

Be sure to follow the instructions on the adhesive package

precisely

(the adhesive

must

be applied to the bracket and the activator

must

 be applied to the windshield).

5.

After allowing the proper drying time

(see adhesive instructions)

re-attach the emitter housing to the bracket (as outlined in step 1 of this section).
