Water Heater
4.11 iVan Communication PCB AK1226
The iVan Control Panel uses a wireless communication protocol to transfer user settings to the
Water Heater and to receive operational data from the Water Heater. Issues in relation to the
wireless communication can occur in two areas (see Figure 19):
-pairing of iVan Control Panel to Water Heater
-Water Heater communications PCB hardware issues
The iVan communications PCB fitted to the WI Water Heater does also control the Pump in the
vehicle. Checking the Pump functionality therefore gives a good first indication of the status before
any of the appliances need to be opened.
! Ensure 230V supply is isolated before commencing work on the product.
Ensure 12 V DC
power supply is
switched on
✓
Unplug 230V
mains JST plug
from supply
Insert multimeter to
check resistance
measurement across
live and neutral as
shown
Should the above not resolve the issue:
1
st
check resistance of electric element
2
nd
replace electric element
- compare measured value with relevant
reference value in table above
- should the measured value be considerably
higher than the reference value the element is
faulty and requires replacement
Drain down Water Heater.
Note positions of wires
Remove wires.
Remove 8 x screws
Carefully prise off existing element
using a flat / smooth tool along the
sealing edge without damaging the
surface of the Water Heater
Discard old blue gasket
Prepare element seal by applying
a continuous bead of silicone as
shown
Align seal with element flange
plate and press firmly in place to
compress silicone
Apply a continuous bead of
silicone on the other side
assembled seal as shown
Assemble element to Water Heater as
shown. Tighten screws gradually in
order indicated
–
repeat until firmly
assembled
–
to do not overtighten
Caution: tighten screws gradually and do
not over torque
