Start-Up and Operation
Method of Operation
The 12 kHz sound, which is extremely uncomfortable for martens, keeps them
away from your vehicle if they are attracted by olfactory marks. The sound,
which is painful for martens and inaudible to humans, is emitted in intervals of
15 seconds of on and off time.
Electric Connection
The marten scare is connected directly to the car battery. Connect the black
lead to the positive pole and the brown lead to the negative pole.
The grey lead is only required for switching the marten scare on or off by
means of the polarity e.g. from the ignition lock or the connection terminal of
the car radio. As soon as voltage is connected to the grey lead the marten
scare is switched off. If no voltage is connected to the grey lead (the ignition is
switched off) it operates.
If you do not use the grey lead for switching on or off and want to leave the
marten scare on continuously, you do not need to connect it. In this case, the
lead needs to be isolated by means of a terminal block or something similar.
Switching on and off using the grey lead increases the service life of the
appliance because it is only switched on when the car is at standstill and the
ignition is switched off.
Installation Hints
Install the unit in the engine compartment of your car with the included cable
ties and sheet-metal screws. Install it in a position where it is protected from
splashing and dirt. Conduct the wires in such a way that they can not come
into contact with moving or hot parts (e. G. exhaust or cooling van).
Advice:
If you run into problems when installing the marten shock, please consult a car
repair shop or our customer support.
General Notes
If your vehicle has been damaged by martens before, these have possibly left
an olfactory mark which will attract other martens. Therefore, it is advisable to
pressure-wash the engine compartment and undercarriage before installing
the device to remove possible olfactory marks. If the problem persists, it may
also be advisable to remove possible marks from the spot in which the vehicle
is usually parked to avoid further disturbance by martens defending their
territory.
