DATA Connections
On the 1xE1 and 2xE1 models, the standard connector for the CEPT-1 (E1) interface is BNC
(unbalanced). 4xE1 capacity radios provide optional BNC or RJ-45 (balanced) connections. The
8xE1 radio provides only RJ-45 (balanced) ports for E1 connections. These connections carry the
individual E1 signals in and out of the radio.
The BNC data ports accept bipolar signals with the shield normally left open (floating) in order to
eliminate ground loop problems. If desired, the BNC shield on the data ports may be grounded using
switch settings on SW2.
For balanced E1 input, use a 120 ohm balun and BNC cables to
provide a RJ45 4-wire connection. SW2 has no effect when using
the typical balun.
