GENERAL DESCRIPTION
1.1
Document Purpose
This document describes the Westell 28MK2QBK Mounting
Bracket Kit, shown in Figure 1. See Table 3 for information con-
cerning other models in the same product family.
- NOTE -
Hereafter, the 28MK2QBK Mounting Bracket Kit may be referred to as
the kit" or the 28MK2QBK."
1.2
Document Status
This Revision B practice updates Table 1 and Table 2. The Issue C
equipment updates the customer wiring (6-wire/pigtails). The Issue
B equipment included an Issue B 28MA204AK mounting assembly
and removed pin 1 from ground. Whenever this practice is updated,
the reason will be stated in this paragraph.
1.3
Product Purpose and Description
The 28MK2QBK is a kit which contains a wall-mountable bracket
to which is attached a 28MA204AK 200 MECHANICS
r
-type 4-slot
mounting and a partially-populated, 66-type, punch-down block for
wiring terminations.

The 28MK2QBK is typically mounted on a wall.

INSTALLATION
Installation includes inspecting the kit for damages, following prop-
er safety precautions, gathering all the necessary tools, mounting the
kit, making power and ground connections, and making line and
drop wiring connections, as described below.

- INSPECTION NOTE -
Visually inspect the unit for damages prior to installation. If damaged in
transit, immediately report the damage to the transportation company
and to Westell (see Part 4 for telephone number).
- PRECAUTIONARY STATEMENT -
Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless the jack is
specifically designed for wet locations.
Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the
telephone line has been disconnected at the network interface.
Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
2.1
Following Safety Considerations
When using telephone/telecommunications equipment, always fol-
low basic safety instructions (to reduce risk of fire, electric shock and
injury to person), including the following:
A.
Read and understand all instructions.
B.
Follow all warnings and instructions marked on product.
C.
Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand or table: the
product may fall, causing serious damage to product.
D.
This product should be operated only from the type of power source
indicated on the marking label.
E.
Slots and openings in the assembly are provided for ventilation. To
protect it from overheating, these openings must not be blocked or
covered. This product should never be placed near or over a radiator
or heat register. This product should not be placed in a built-in
installation unless proper ventilation is provided.
F.
Never push objects into this product through assembly slots as they
may touch dangerous voltage points or short-out parts that could re-
sult in fire or electrical shock. Never spill any liquid on the product.
2.2
Gathering Tools and Supplies
The following tools/supplies are recommended to mount the kit.
Hardware to affix the bracket to a wall or backboard is not included.

Awl or drill with assorted wood or cement bits
