3. Safety Instructions
3.1 Safety regulations
For your own safety, the safety of your pa-
tients, and to comply with the requirements
of EU Directive 93/42/EEC, please observe
the following points:
• Please read these operating instructions
through carefully. They form part of the
equipment and should be available at
all times.
• Only use SOMNO vent S for the purpose
described (see "2.1 Intended purpose"
on page 8).
• SOMNO vent S is not suitable for life
support .
• Check that the supply voltage of the
unit complies with your supply voltage.
The unit is designed for voltages of 115
V and 230 V. One of these voltages is
detected automatically. With 12 V DC
or 24 V DC use an inverter available as
an accessory.
• Caution with oxygen: When using oxy-
gen during night-time therapy smoking
and open fire are not permitted.
There
is the risk of fire. The oxygen may be
deposited in the clothing, bed linen or
the hair. It is only removed when the
room is ventilated thoroughly.
• The supply of oxygen is only permitted
with the use of the O
2
connection valve.
• As regards oxygen please make sure
you observe the safety information in-
cluded in the instructions for your oxy-
gen system.
• Do not place the unit near a source of
heating or expose to direct sunlight as
