2.7 WIND LOAD CONSIDERATIONS
2.7.1 Wind Load
Wind speeds have a distinct affect on the HPSA-7100-R speaker array. Table 2.1 provides
information for the affect of wind load on the speaker arrays at a wind speed of 100 m.p.h.
(160 k.p.h) (measurements are recorded in Newtons).
2.7.2 Additional Design Considerations
2.7.3 Seismic Activity
When installing the HPSA and Speaker Array, consideration should be given to any
Seismic activity that might occur in the region. A Structural Engineer should be involved
in the early stages of design to provide guidance and code requirements when installing a
system.
2.7.4 Temperature Variations
The temperature of each component and cable should be reviewed during the design phase
of the system to verify its operating temperature meets with the environment in which it
will be placed. Extreme temperatures falling outside the range of normal operating
conditions could adversely affect system operation.
Always consult a Structural Engineer when designing for the installation of a
Speaker Array. Pole dimensions, heights and placement will affect the wind
loading characteristics of the system and should be evaluated by a
professional.The speaker array structure shall meet all local, state, and
regional codes along with the authority having jurisdiction.

a. Uni-directional (180°) speaker mounting: All speaker openings facing the same direction.
b. Omni-directional (360°) speaker mounting: Speaker openings facing opposite directions.
When installing the Speakers on a tripod, the installer must include
appropriate ballast and tie downs in accordance with national,
regional, local codes and the authority having jurisdiction.
