MMB Reed Sensor for
Speed Measurement
Item‑

• Mount sensor always vertically oriented, not
horizontally.
• The edge of the magnet must match the upper
or lower edge of the sensor. Distance between
magnet and sensor = 1 ‑ 5 mm.
• If using the magnets that come with the sensor,
distance should be as close as possible (1 mm).
If using neodym magnets, a distance of 5 mm is
ok.
• When using more than one magnet to trigger
the sensor, glue them in equal distances onto
the rim, disc etc. You must achieve a regular
triggering pattern.
• Sensor and magnet faces should be parallel.
• Use 2K‑epoxy to fix a magnet.
• Install magnets rather ON a screw head than
besides it. Magnets must always project above
the surrounding surfaces.
• It is ok to place a magnet in a small counterbore
for positioning, if the bore depth is not more
than 1/3 of the magnet‘s thickness.
• Magnets must not be heated up. More than
100°C (218°F) will destroy the magnetic field.
(Don‘t install them on a non‑floating brake disc.)
Align either upper or lower edges of sensor and
magnet. Distance 1 mm to 5 mm, according to
strength of magnet.
