Up/Down Counter with Signaling Outputs
There are several options for setting an output on the up/down counter with
signaling outputs.
In this example, digital output “DO 1” should be set after 400 pulses are counted.
Scenario 1:
When “DO 1” should be used as switching output and the counter should count
upward:
1.
Set the counter to 0x80000000 − 4000 = 0x7FFFF060.
2.
Set input “U/D” to +24 V.
3.
Set bit 0 in the control byte.
Result: After 4000 pulses, the counter status has reached 0x80000000 and the
output “DO 1” switches on.
Scenario 2:
When the counter should count downward:
1.
Preset the counter with 0x80 4000 = 0x80000FA0.
2.
Set input “U/D” to 0 V.
Result: After 4000 pulses, the counter status has reached 0x80000000 and the
output “DO 1” is retracted.
Scenario 3:
When “DO 2” should be used as switching output:
1.
Load the counter
for upward counting with 0x8000 − 4000 = 0x7060, or
4000 = 0x8FA0 for downward counting.
Background: Only the lower sixteen counter bits are used for the switching
output “DO 2.”
2.
Set the input “U/D” to +24 V for upward counting or
for downward counting, to 0 V.
3.
Now set bit 1 instead of bit 0 in the control byte.
Result: After 4000 pulses, the desired counter status has been reached and the
output “DO 2” is either switched on or retracted.
The respectively unused digital output can be directly addressed from the
controller via bits 2 and 3.
