Safety and installation instructions
Warning! Inadequate cable connections can lead to short-circuits which cause
the following:
• cable fires
• triggering of the airbag
• damage to electronic control equipment
• failure of electrical functions (blinkers, brake-lights, horn, ignition, lights).
Warning! Due to the risk of short-circuits, always disconnect the negative
terminal of the battery before starting to work on the electrical equipment of the
vehicle.
If the vehicle is equipped with a supplementary battery; also disconnect its
negative terminal.
Caution! When disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery, all volatile
memories of the comfort-electronics lose their stored data.
Depending on the vehicle’s equipment, the following date may need to be reprogrammed:
Radio-code…vehicle clock timeswitch clock onboard computer seat position
Instructions on how to reset these can be found in the relevant operating instructions.
Warning! Parts of the remote control MS-IR2 for cruise control MS-400 and
MS-700 which are fastened in the vehicle, must be fastened in such a way
that they do not detach under any circumstances (hard-braking, traffic
accident) and thus cause injuries of the
passengers.
Caution! For checking the voltage in electrical lines only a diode test lamp

A 1) or a voltmeter (see

A 2) may be used for checking. Test lamps

A3) which light up consume too much current and the vehicle
electronics may be damaged.
Caution! In order to avoid damages, pay attention that there is sufficient free
space for the drill outlet (see

. A 4). Every drill hole must be deburred and
treated with a rustproofing agent.
