I
NDICATORS
The EX1200A has three dual-color status LEDs. The 1588 LED indicates IEEE 1588
synchronization status, the LAN LED indicates the LAN status, and the PWR LED provides
power and failure status for the EX1200A system. The different LEDs states are illustrated in
Table 3-7.
LED
Activity & Color
Description
1588
Solid green
The device clock is an IEEE 1588 slave.
Flashing green once/second
The device clock is an IEEE 1588 master.
Flashing green twice/second
The device clock is an IEEE 1588 grandmaster.
Solid red
An IEEE 1588 fault has occurred.
No activity/color
The device clock is not synchronized.
LAN
Solid green
Normal operation.
Flashing green
The device has received a device identification command.
Solid red
A LAN fault has been detected.
PWR
Solid green
The devices power supplies are operating normally.
Solid red
The power supply is not functioning normally.
Solid red for 5 s, then solid green
Condition normally occurs at power up.

OCKING
Depending on the mechanism used to communicate with the EX1200A, locks can be established
to prevent any unintentional use of the mainframe while it is in use. When using the API of any
driver, except for VTEXSystem, a lock is established when they are initialized. The user does not
have to request a lock. If the lock fails, the initialize call will return an error and the driver will not
be useable. Because the VTEXSystem driver capabilities may be needed by one or more driver
sessions, no lock is established by this driver.
When the mainframe is accessed via the SFP, a lock can be established for each SFP by clicking
on the
Lock
button. SFPs do not lock by default except for those of switch plug-in modules. When
a switch SFP is initialized, the SFP attempts to get a lock. If it is successful, the SFP opens in
Synchronous Control
mode. If the attempt fails, the switch opens in
Monitor Only
mode. Both
Synchronous Control
and
Asynchronous Control
modes require a lock. For more information
on switch SFP operating modes, see
in Section 7.
Once established, a lock cannot be broken by any other session. If the lock is being held by some
other active driver or SFP session, the only ways to gain control of the mainframe is to either close
the active session or to reboot the mainframe. If a lock is established by an application that has
crashed, the mainframe will typically release the lock after the TCP timeout occurs.

RIGGERING
EX1200As support a full function trigger model with a separate arm source and trigger source
event structure. For a complete explanation of the trigger model, see Section 5. In summary, an
acquisition sequence is enabled with a trigger initialize command. Scanning is then initiated upon
the receipt of the programmed arm source event followed by the receipt of the programmed trigger
source event. Trigger and arm source events can be independently programmed from a variety of
sources including Immediate, Timer, Digital I/O, the Trigger Bus, and alarms.
