New message indication
The
console displays
XX New messages
when there are new messages and/
or memos in the general mailbox.
The
MESSAGE WAITING
indicator on the console turns on when there are
new messages in the general mailbox.
Call screening
If the answering system and call screening are turned on (see
on page 83), the incoming message broadcasts at the console when a call
arrives. During message recording, press
+/VOL/-
/VOL/--
to adjust the volume, or
press
CANCEL
to stop call screening.
If the do not disturb function is activated, you need to press
MENU
/SELECT
to
start call screening.
Call intercept
When a caller is leaving a message on your general mailbox, you can stop the
recording and talk to the caller by pressing the corresponding line key
(
LINE 1

on page 84.
Message playback
From the console, you can play the messages in the general mailbox.
You can choose to play the new or old messages.
When the playback begins, the total number of messages is announced. Before
each message, the system announces the date and time of the recording
before playing each message. After the last message, you hear, “
End of the
messages.
”
NOTE:
A maximum of two stations can listen to message playback in their mailbox at the
same time.
To listen to messages in the general mailbox:
While the console is idle, press
MAIL BOX
.
Press
MENU/
SELECT
or
/SKIP
to choose
Play
messages
.
If you have only new messages or only old
messages, the console plays the messages directly.
-OR-
If you have both new and old messages, press or to choose
New
messages
to play the new messages only, or
Old messages
to play the old
messages in the general mailbox. Press
MENU/
SELECT
or
/SKIP
