Replacing the batteries
If the POWER indicator becomes dim, replace
the batteries with new ones.
Note:
The sound may become noisy if the bat-
tery power is low.

Remove exhausted batteries immediate-
ly. Otherwise, a malfunction may occur,
or the batteries may leak liquid. Also, re-
move the batteries if you plan not to use
the amplifier for a long period of time.

erence.
Setting up your guitar
When shipped, the guitar is set up to be appro-
priate for a variety of playing styles. It is shipped
with a set of strings that ranges from .010 gauge
to .046 gauge. To make the guitar ideally play-
able for your own style, you can make various
changes to the setup, for example by installing
strings of a different gauge, or by making adjust-
ments to compensate for the way the instrument
is affected by changes in the climate or season.
Before making such adjustments, you should
check the concave bow (called “relief”) of the
neck and correct it if necessary.
First, with your guitar tuned correctly, press
down the sixth string at the 1st fret and at the
22nd fret. (This is easier if you use a capo to
hold down the string at the 1st fret.) Then check
whether there is a gap between the top of the 8th
fret and the 6th string. Ideally, this gap should be
about the thickness of the first string.
If the gap is too large, the neck has too much
relief. In this case, you’ll need to tighten the truss
rod. Using the included wrench, slowly tighten
the truss rod nut clockwise, and then check the
gap again.
Conversely if the gap is too small, or if the string
touches the 8th fret, you’ll need to loosen the
truss rod. Slowly turn the truss rod nut counter-
clockwise.
Do not use excessive force when adjusting the
truss rod. If you’re not comfortable making this
adjustment, we recommend that you take your
guitar to a repair shop.
To lower the string height, use the included
wrench to turn the bridge saddle adjustment
screws counterclockwise. To raise the string
height, turn the bridge saddle adjustment screws
clockwise.
If you’ve changed the neck relief, the string
height, or the string gauge, you’ll need to adjust
the intonation of the octaves.
For each string, compare the pitch of a note fret-
ted at the 12th fret with the pitch of the harmonic
sounded at the 12th fret.
If the pitch of the note fretted at the 12th fret is
lower than the harmonic, you’ll need to slightly
shorten the length of that string. To do this,
turn the adjustment screw counter-clockwise to
move the saddle for that string toward the neck.
This will raise the pitch of the note fretted at the
12th fret, causing it to match the pitch of the har-
monic. Conversely if the pitch of the note fretted
at the 12th fret is higher than the harmonic, you’ll
need to lengthen that string. To do this, move
the saddle toward the end of the body so that
the string becomes longer. After you move the
saddle, you’ll need to adjust the tuning.
For the pickup, turning the screws counter-
clockwise will lower the position (and decrease
the output). Turning the screws clockwise will
raise the position (and increase the output). Ad-
just the pickup so that there is enough of a gap
between the pickup and strings to prevent their
vibration from being obstructed.
Caring for your guitar
The finish of this instrument can be maintained
for many years by simple daily care. When you
finish playing, wipe it with a clean, soft, dry
cloth. We recommend that you occasionally use
polish that is designed for guitars.
Do not expose this instrument to high tempera-
ture, low temperature, or sudden changes in
temperature. For example, it is very dangerous
to leave a normally-strung guitar inside an auto-
mobile where it will be exposed to high tempera-
tures. Also, if a guitar that has been left in a cold
room is brought suddenly into a heated room,
cracks may occur in the finish of the instrument.
Use new strings on this instrument. When re-
placing the strings, remove the old strings and
pass the new strings through from the back of
the body. At the head, insert each string (cut to
the appropriate length) into the hole in the tun-
ing peg shaft. Then wind the wound strings two
or three times around the shaft, and wind the
plain (unwound) strings four or five times around
the shaft, in each case winding the string down
the shaft from above.
