Towbars

Centrally mounted, semi-undermounted,

Fifth wheels

Certifi ed installation allows up to 36 tonne 

loads. An ISO fi fth wheel with L-profi le beams 

at different heights. A fl ange-mounted fi fth 

wheel is a low-weight variant since it does 

not need a mounting plate. The height of 

the fi fth wheel above the chassis is only 

about 140 mm.

Fuel tanks

Aluminium or steel tanks ranging in volume 

from 150 to 870 litres. Maximum fuel volume 

with multiple tanks is 1480 litres for a 4x2 

tractor.

AdBlue tanks

Plastic or stainless steel. Volumes from 36 

to 125 litres.

FA-LOW: low front axle for medium and high 

chassis heights, axle load up to 8 tonnes.

FA-HIGH: high front axle for high chassis

Brakes

Engine D13 

The 13-litre engine has the power you need to maintain a steady cruising 

speed even with high combination weights on hilly roads. 

  The long stroke provides massive power from low revs. The power is 

delivered quickly. At 800 r/min, no less than 60% of torque is available 

within just one second. The engine’s high torque means it is possible to 

fit rear axles with a selection of fast ratios – with out raising engine revs. 

This has a positive effect on fuel consumption. 

  The D13 is available with power outputs of 400, 440 and 480 hp for 

Euro 3.

Well-illuminated all round

Practical work illumination and reversing lamps 

are available in several versions. There is lighting 

tailored for most types of superstructures. 

High air intake for good rearward 

visibility

Air intake for day cab with high air throughput.

that make the Volvo FMX an unbeatable construction truck.

Easy to use towing device

The front towing device has a high permitted 

towing limit of 25 tonnes. Lift 

up the towing bolt with the yellow handle, 

insert the tow-rope or drawbar and release 

the yellow handle. That’s how quickly you 

prepare your truck for towing.

I-Shift for safe and comfortable driving

With I-Shift you don’t need to keep an eye on 

your gears – the transmission does all that for 

you. 

Robust rear-view mirrors

The rear-view mirrors provide improved 

visibility to the rear. The support brackets are 

slim, providing better vision to the sides. The 

brackets are made of steel, and each individual 

mirror can be replaced separately in the event 

of damage.

More convenient load inspection

The ladder and handrails make it easy to check 

the load before you take to the road. They 

also make it easier for you to get in and out 

when the cab is standing in diffi cult terrain.

Generous lighting 

Powerful headlamps featuring separate lenses 

make each individual unit easy to replace if 

damaged. Auxiliary lamps (optional) are 

recessed in the bumper for added protection.

Skid-plate built for tough conditions

The engine skid-plate is made of sturdy steel 

and stands up to the tough conditions of 

off-road duties. 

Massive power resources

Dependable and economical in-line sixes 

with plenty of low-down torque and massive 

power. The power is there when you need it. 

Choose between 11 and 13 litres, with 

outputs from 330 to 500 hp.
