contact measurement

Screw the adapter holder into the thread of the device.

1.

Select one of the three contact adapters:

2.

Outer cone (for concave shaft ends)

 -

Inner cone (for tapered shaft ends)

 -

Friction wheel (for measuring tape speeds, e.g. fan belts, belt conveyors, band saw, etc.)

 -

The lower part of the three contact adapters features two short and two long grooves each. Place the

3.

relevant contact adapter onto the centre of the adapter holder in such a way that one of the shorter

grooves comes to rest on the locking pin.

On the back of the adapter holder, there is a small reflector strip on a black surface. This

reflector strip is indispensible for the contact measurement. Thus, check the adapter holder

before each use and, if required, replace the reflector strip.

1.

This product is designed to measure and display revolution and tape speeds. Measurements are done

without contact via the integrated laser or with direct contact using the adapters included in delivery.

The  revolution  speed  can  be  shown  in  the  units  rpm  (revolutions  per  minute),  Hz,  m/min,  in/min,

ft/min and yd/min. Also, a measurement process’s total number of revolutions can be displayed. The

length of run of tapes can be displayed in the units m, in, ft and yd. Readings are shown on the 5-digit

LC display. The product can store 40 readings, whereby maximum, minimum and average values of

a saved measurement process can be read. Power is provided by a 9V battery or a power supply unit

(optionally available).

This product fulfils European and national requirements related to electromagnetic compatibility

(EMC). CE conformity has been verified and the relevant statements and documents have been

laser

The product is equipped with a laser of laser class 2 according to EN 60 825-1: 2007.

•

The laser outlet is marked with the laser caution label. Never look into the laser beam and never

•

point it at people or animals. Laser radiation can cause damage to eyes or skin.

Do not point the laser beam at mirrors or other reflecting areas. Any inadvertent misdirecting of the

•

beam may harm people or animals. Therefore only the provided self-adhesive reflective markers are

to be used for measuring.

contactless measurement

Measurement is done based on reflection. The self-adhesive reflector strips included can be attached

to rotating objects. The laser beam emitted by the device is reflected by the reflector strips. A photo

diode in the device  registers  the reflected  laser beam and analyses  it. Hence, make  the following

preparations:

Cut out a square piece from the reflector strip (approx. 12 x 12 mm).

1.

Attach this piece to the object to be measured. Make sure the surface is dry and free of dust and

2.

grease.

rotating  parts  must  always  come  to  a  complete  standstill  and  must  be  secured

against being switched on again before attaching any reflector strip.

Make sure a sufficient bright/dark contrast is provided. In certain cases, the surface of the object to

3.

be measured has to be coated in matt black around the reflector strip. The non-reflecting area must

always be larger than the reflector strip.
