12V GLOW PLUG CHARGER 2A
Item No. 23 60 31
INTENDED USE
1.
The device is designed to charge a Ni-Cd/Ni-MH rechargeable battery pack using glow plug connectiton. The
rated charging voltage is 1.2 V/DC with a rated charging current of 2 A. The minus ΔV detection regulates
the voltage to protect against overcharging. The charger will switch to trickle charging automatically once the
battery is fully charged so as to maintain batteries at their full capacity. This charger must only be powered
by a 12 - 13.8 V vehicle cigarette lighter outlet. Only operate device in dry environment, such as indoors or
inside vehicles.
Unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the device are inadmissible because of safety and approval
reasons. Any usage other than described above is not permitted and can damage the product and lead to
associated risks such as short-circuit, fire, electric shock, etc. Please read the operating instructions thoroughly
and keep them for further reference.

Personal safety
The product is not a toy and should be kept out of reach of children!
•
When inserting the cigarette lighter plug, ensure that it is connected securely.
•
Product safety
Do not block the ventilation holes located at the side of the charger. Sufficient air circulation
•
must be provided since the charger is mainly cooled by convection ventilation.
The charger must not be connected to any electrical load with power consumption greater
•
than 2.4 VA or with a current consumption greater than 2 A.
Observe the polarity andd magnitude of the output voltage. Incorrect polarity, over-voltage
•
may lead to damage of the device or the connected electrical load.
Only fuses of the same type and rated current as specified in “Technical Data” may be used.
•
The use of repaired or defective fuses is not permitted under any circumstances.
Always connect the battery to the charger before plugging it into the cigarette lighter outlet.
•
Never start engine of the vehicle when the charger is connected and in operation. Voltage
•
surges can destroy the device as well as the connected electrical load. Disconnect the input
car plug from the cigarette lighter outlet before ignition. Ignite the engine before reconnecting
the charger.
Do not leave the charger and batteries unattended during operation.
•
Keep transmitters (cellular phones, transmitters for model building, etc.) away from the charger
•
because transmitter radiation can disturb the charging process or damage the charger or the
rechargeable battery.
When used in conjunction with other devices, observe the operating instructions and safety
•
notices of connected devices.
The product must not be subjected to heavy mechanical stress.
•
The product must not be exposed it to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, intense vibration,
•
or dampness.
If there is reason to believe that safe operation is no longer possible, the device is to be
•
put out of operation and secured against unintended operation. Safe operation is no longer
possible if the device:
shows visible damages,
-
no longer works,
-
was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
-
was subject to considerable transport stress
-
Battery safety
Do not charge batteries (zinc carbon, alkaline, etc.), lead acid batteries, lithium batteries (Li-
•
ion, LiPo etc.) or non-rechargeable batteries.
Correct polarity must be observed while inserting the batteries.
•
Batteries should be removed from the device if it is not used for a long period of time to
•
avoid damage through leaking. Leaking or damaged batteries might cause acid burns when in
contact with skin, therefore use suitable protective gloves to handle corrupted batteries.
Batteries must be kept out of reach of children. Do not leave the battery lying around, as there
•
is risk, that children or pets swallow it.
All the batteries should be replaced at the same time. Mixing old and new batteries in the
•
device can lead to battery leakage and device damage.
Batteries must not be dismantled, short-circuited or thrown into fire. Never recharge non-
•
rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of explosion!
Miscellaneous
Repair works must only be carried out by a specialist/ specialist workshop.
