Battery

Battery Consumption with Engine ON

The battery is being charged by the charging system when the engine is

on. However, during extended low engine speeds and high energy con-

sumption (for example stop and go trafﬁc and high energy consumption,

like heated seats and rear window defogger turned on) the consumption

can be higher than what is capable of being produced. To restore balance

the battery management system may:

• Increase idle speed to produce more energy
• Turn off convenience features (heated seats and/or defogger)

These high energy consuming features will be available again once the

energy balance is restored.
