Engine electronic systems

Maximum engine speed governing

On reaching the maximum engine speed, the
engine control unit reduces the injection volume
in order to protect the engine.

Start volume control

The injection volume required for starting is
determined by the engine control unit
corresponding to the coolant temperature. As a
result, exhaust emission is kept low while still
ensuring very good starting characteristics.

Signal monitoring

During operation, the engine control unit
monitors itself as well as the functions of the
sensors and actuators. Occurrence of a
malfunction is indicated visually by the indicator
lamp illuminating and acoustically by a warning
tone.
