Bandwidth for this broadcast highway. This bandwidth is used when determining
the available bandwidth over an aggregate which is carrying trib traffic. The
bandwidth configured here is permanently assigned on all of the specified
aggregates – it is not available for use by other calls. A broadcast group may be
assigned a bandwidth of zero, then it will rely on the Vocality overhead to carry
the broadcast traffic.
Note: Configuring too much broadcast traffic could result in no other traffic
types being carried – even if there is no broadcast traffic present.
Priority at which data packets are to be transmitted. (Since there is no signalling
on broadcast calls, the software cannot learn this automatically).

5.20.5 Routing broadcast traffic between slots
On systems with more than one card, such as V150, V200 and certain BASICS
configurations, you may need to configure SLOTx destinations in order to route
broadcast traffic along the backplane, to find the destination tribs.
These are only needed if the destination trib is on a different card from the source of
the broadcast data (whether trib or aggregate).
If the broadcast data is being addressed to an aggregate on a different card, you will
also need to configure a SLOTx entry to the card with the aggregate. Note that the
information for the slot number of the aggregate is not readily available.
For this you would use the
Broadcast Trib Routing menu
. Refer to the
Menus
appendix for details of all the parameters that can be set.
5.20.6 Broadcast audio channel keying
By default the broadcast channels will always be transmitting, as they are set to four
wire mode and the default setting on the system page is for 'Tie Line Activation' set to
'Auto'. To prevent the channels from always transmitting you can adjust 'Tie Line
Activation' to 'M-lead', if you have a physical keying mechanism. Alternatively, it can be
set to 'Voice Detect : Auto'. If this is set alongside setting 'Silence suppress' to 'ON' on
the respective voice channels, you will enable units to only transmit when audio has
been detected, but will also activate the E-lead on the four wire port when voice has
been received.
5.20.7 FXS / FXO ports
Although the examples above have shown four wire ports being used, normal two wire
FXS and FXO ports can be used.
5.20.8 Serial tributary
The examples above have only shown analogue ports being used. Serial data tributaries
can also be used in a broadcast mode. For example, in Figure 5-75 below.
