Installation Instruction

1. Inspect the Vision System rear view mirror for

damage or defects.

2. Prior to disconnecting the negative side of the

battery terminal, be sure to record the security code.

The code is to be re-entered after reconnecting the

negative battery terminal. Your vehicle may be

equipped with an anti-theft radio.

Rear View Monitor Mirror Installation

1. Remove the original equipment (OEM) rear view
mirror.
2. The Vision System rear view mirror is engineered to
fit the majority of existing (OEM) mounting plates.
3. If the Vision System mirror does not fit on the
existing mounting plate, use the mounting plate
provided. There are several choices of rear view
mounting glues you can purchase from your local auto
parts stores. Below are a few examples.

3M #08752
VersaChem #11109
Permatex #81840, #81844

4. Do not attempt to remove the existing mouting
plate by prying it with a screwdriver or with a sharp
instrument. That could crack the windshield. Leave
the mounting plate on and mount the Vision System
mounting plate either on the side, top or bottom of
the existing mounting plate.

5. Slide the Vision System mirror base over the
mounting plate and tighten the screw on the mirror
mounting bracket until the mirror is snug on the
mounting plate.
6. Connect both wire harnesses to the Vision System
mirror.  Route wire harness up to the headliner.  Use
your fingers or a nylon tool to tuck the wire harness
snugly between the headliner and the roof.  Route the
wire harness on the drivers or passengers side pillar
and under the dash.
7. Route the red, white and black wires toward the
fuse panel. The fuse panel is usually located under the
dashboard on the driver side.
8. Tap the red 12V DC power cable to a “Switched”
(hot only when the ignition is keyed) power source.
9. The black ground cable can be attached to a bolt,
screw or wire that contacts the bare metal of your
vehicle’s chassis.  Look for an existing bolt or screw
in your vehicle that appears to make contact with the
chassis.  Loosen it, slip the ground wire underneath
then tighten it up. (If your ground wire doesn’t
contact bare metal, your mirror won’t operate)
10. The white cable needs to be attached to a reverse
signal or switch.  The most common place to find a
reverse signal is directly from your rear reverse bulb
circuit or at the neutral safety switch sometime found
attached to the transmission or steering column.
11. Route the camera wiring harness toward the
rear of the car to the inside of the trunk.  The cables
will need to be passed to the outside of the vehicle
and will need to be connected to the camera at the
license plate.

Camera Installation

1. Loosen the license plate mounting bolts and
remove the rear license plate.
2. Choose a routing path for the camera’s power cable
and video cable through the vehicle’s body to the rear
of the vehicle. Some vehicles have a hole to pass the
wire through. If no hole found, you may need to drill
a half inch diameter hole. Make sure that there is
nothing behind the drilling location.
3. Pass the camera and electrical wires through
the hole
4. Slide the camera mounting bracket over the top
of the license plate and align the right side license
mounting hole and the camera bracket mounting hole.
5. Tighten all license plate bolts to secure the license
plate and the camera
6. Adjust the camera angle
7. Connect the cables to the camera receptacle and
tape the connectors with electrical tape to keep the
moisture and water out and keep it from getting rust
or water damage.
