1. DESCRIPTION
Viking Institutional Style Sprinklers are small, flush, solder link and lever sprinklers
made with tamper-resistant construction. These flush-mount sprinklers can be
ordered as Quick Response, Quick Response-Extended Coverage, and as Pendent
or Horizontal Sidewall configurations. Viking institutional sprinklers have been
specifically designed for use with concealed piping in institutional mental health
occupancies, correctional facilities, or anywhere a likelihood of tampering with fire
sprinklers by the occupants may exist.
The institutional sprinkler assembly consists of the sprinkler body and a 3 or 4 inch
escutcheon plate. The sprinkler and escutcheon plate are available with a polished
chrome or painted finish.

EC HSW: cULus Listed as Quick Response, Extended Coverage Flush sprinklers for
extended areas of coverage up to 16’ x 16’ (4.9 m x 4.9 m) in Light Hazard occupancies
only below smooth, flat, horizontal ceilings.

Minimum Operating Pressure: 7 psi (0.5 bar)
Rated to: 175 psi (12 bar) water working pressure.
Factory tested hydrostatically to 500 psi (34.5 bar).
Thread size: 1/2” NPT or 15 mm BSPT
Nominal K-factor: 5.6 U.S. (80.6 metric**)
** Metric K-factor measurement shown is in Bar. When pressure is measured in kPa, divide the
metric K-factor shown by 10.0.
