Startup and shutdown (G3-GS models)
There are several procedures to turn on or off your system.
First use or power cord plug-in (page 172)
After normal shutdown by IPMI or power button
After a power loss (page 172)
Power down (page 172)
First use or power cord plug-in
1. Plug the power cords into the rear of the power supplies.
2. Wait until the blue Information LED starts to blink.
3. Use the tip of your finger to press the power button once. The control board
initiates the power up sequence in three seconds.

After normal shutdown by IPMI or power button
Press the power button once. The JBOD control board will initiate the power up
sequence in three seconds.

After a power loss
The system will power up automatically approximately fifteen seconds after the
power returns.

Power down
Turn off the unit using a clean operating system shutdown from Windows.
1. Turn off the head unit using a clean operating system shutdown before the
JBOD unit(s). Always wait for the head unit to power off before turning off
the JBOD unit(s).
2. For each JBOD, hold down the power button. The blue Information LED will
begin blinking. Continue to hold the power button.
3. Release the power button after blue LED stops blinking and goes dark.
4. The shutdown sequence will begin and shut down the system within ten
seconds.

Installing the drives in your Observer Platform
appliance
Failure to install the drives in the proper location will result in poor read and
write performance until the RAID array volume is rebuilt.
Follow these instructions to install the drives correctly before starting the
appliance.
